Never missing from the Michelin guide…

On the other hand, we know for certain that, since it first came
out in 1900, the Michelin guide has never omitted mentioning
this good address in its famous red guide.
Over a century later, there are only a hundred or so establishments
in France that, like the Cygne de la Croix, were well rated
in the first edition of this bible for gastronomic travellers
and that have been listed ever since.

What could be more natural, since Gabriel Marlot, who took up
the reins in 1976, has successfully kept the flame of his illustrious
predecessors burning. The Auberge is still just as welcoming,
and its cuisine extremely appealing, not to say irresistible…
The place itself has retained all its charm and character.
Why is it called
“Cygne de la Croix” ?
Mystery still surrounds the origins of this
name. However, what we do know is that
these thick stone walls once housed the convent
of the “Sisters of the Cross”. Did swans
from the nearby river Seine once call in on the
nuns? Goodness only knows… |
